Dr. Fieve employs a multi-phase treatment process, which consist of the following steps and procedures:

PHASE I — INITIAL EVALUATION/DIAGNOSIS
The first step in the Depression, Bipolar I or Bipolar II treatment process involves preliminary patient evaluation and accurate psychiatric diagnosis including a recent physical examination along with EKG, blood chemistry and a detailed family history, including depression, suicide, alcohol, hospitalization or outstanding achievement.

PHASE II — PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY
Based on the above obtained results, Dr. Fieve initiates weekly treatment procedures, which are developed into bi-weekly and monthly follow-up office appointments , as necessary.

Treatments : Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly monitoring of mood behavior, lithium, Depakote, thyroid ECT, blood chemistries and medications being prescribed.

+ PHASE III — COGNITIVE PSYCHOTHERAPY
The third stage of the depression/Bipolar treatment process requires that Dr. Fieve perform an assessment of the patient's response to the prescribed treatments, weekly for the first month with adjustments of medication dosages and blood levels of the medications. This is performed in the office so that blood level values are available when the patient sees Dr. Fieve, or his associate, on the premises.

+ PHASE IV — PROGRESS ASSESSMENT
This stage of treatment entails evaluating of a patient's condition, revealing signs of improvement and adjusting the treatment process accordingly. The progress is recorded and the patient’s treatments are adjusted to reflect such improvements. In the case of little or no improvement, Dr. Fieve re-evaluates the case and selects a therapy plan that better suits the patient's condition.
